ABU DHABI: Modern, Magnificant and Mysterious

The capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi Abu Dhabi is the one place on earth that encompasses everything that is ancient and modern, amazing and adventurous, magnificent and mysterious.

The city has a street grid similar to Manhattan, with wide avenues and lots of verdant green space. Like Dubai, Abu Dhabi has its share of beaches, gold souks and international restaurants.

Abu Dhabi Corniche

Abu Dhabi Corniche
The beauty of the recently landscaped corniche in Abu Dhabi is only amplified by the inviting turquoise blue waters of the Gulf and the coral-coloured beach dunes of the outer Lulu island. There  are numerous benches for one to sit and plenty of grass for one to lie down.

The prime real estate of the northern coastal strip is undoubtedly the city’s most pleasant place to spend some leisure time. Starting at the western end by the clock tower it stretches for around 1.5km. The centrepiece is the Volcano Fountain, located centrally along the promenade’s length.

Several tiers of separate fountains build up to the centrepiece, a conical fountain, built to represent a volcano. Plenty of greenery along the length of the Corniche makes it the favoured place among locals and tourists

Abu Dhabi Heritage Village and Women's Handicraft Center

Heritage Village
The Heritage Village, near the giant flagpole on the breakwater, recreates a Bedouin village, complete with goat-hair tents, a souk and a simple mosque representing Abu Dhabi's former life. The Women's Handicraft Center, in the Women's Union, hosts women weaving traditional baskets, making textiles, doing embroidery and applying the traditional henna. You can ask for your own henna tattoo.
